Lakto introduces three new flavours and expands its lactose-free range
Latvia’s leading dairy processing company, Rīgas piena kombināts, has invested EUR 26,000 in expanding the Lakto drinking yoghurt range and improving product recipes. As a result, three new products are being introduced this autumn – two exotic flavour combinations in the Lakto ProBio range and an autumn-inspired apple-lingonberry yoghurt. At the same time, the recipes of all products in the Lakto 450 g range have been improved, making all five products lactose-free.
Lakto ProBio: more choice with no added sugar
To expand its offering for consumers looking to reduce added sugar in their everyday diets, the company has further developed the Lakto ProBio drinking yoghurt range, launched two years ago. The range now includes two new flavours – pineapple-orange and dragon fruit-peach – while maintaining the no-added-sugar and lactose-free recipes characteristic of the entire range.
All Lakto ProBio products are made with high-quality milk and bacterial cultures L. acidophilus LA and Bifidobacterium BB, while natural fruit and berry preparations provide a mild sweetness. The yoghurts are packaged in fully recyclable PET bottles (270 g), making them convenient for consumption both at home and on the go.
Estere Ermale, Brand Manager at Rīgas piena kombināts, says: “The fermented dairy products category is growing both globally and in Latvia, and we see significant opportunities for further development in this segment. Therefore, our focus in developing Lakto is on three key areas – flavour diversity, reducing added sugar and expanding our lactose-free offering. The new Lakto ProBio products provide more choice for consumers looking for yoghurts with no added sugar. At the same time, by improving the recipes of our 450 g range, we have made all its flavours suitable for people who have difficulty digesting lactose. This is an important step towards making the entire Lakto portfolio 100% lactose-free in the near future.”
Lakto 450 g range: an autumn-inspired flavour and a fully lactose-free offering
The Lakto 450 g range, which offers the widest variety of flavours, is being expanded with a combination characteristic of Latvian autumn – apple-lingonberry yoghurt with reduced sugar content and no lactose. Alongside the introduction of the new product, the recipes of the remaining products in the range have also been improved. All five yoghurts are now lactose-free – natural without additives, sea buckthorn, wild strawberry, raspberry-blueberry and the new apple-lingonberry flavour.
Both the three new products and the remaining fermented dairy products in the Lakto 450 g range, featuring improved lactose-free recipes, will gradually become available on the shelves of major retail chains and local stores across Latvia throughout October.
