Rīgas piena kombināts invests EUR 50,000 in the development of its yogurt category, introducing new products from Limbažu piens and Rasēns brands
As the fermented dairy products category continues to grow dynamically in Europe and elsewhere around the world, Latvia’s leading dairy processing company, Rīgas piena kombināts, continues to expand and diversify its yogurt range. As a result, the company has invested a further EUR 50,000 in the development of the yogurt category, adding five new and improved products to the Limbažu piens and Rasēns ranges. The products are manufactured at both of the company’s production facilities in Latvia – Rīgas piena kombināts and Valmieras Piens.
Limbažu Piens: new flavours for an affordable everyday choice
The traditional Limbažu piens brand is expanding its yogurt range with two new flavours – apple-banana and mango-passion fruit. The new products will be available on store shelves alongside the peach yogurt already popular with consumers.
Alongside the expanded range, the packaging of all three Limbažu piens yogurts has also been renewed, including both the packaging material and visual design. The yogurts are now available in polypropylene cups that are easier to recycle, featuring a new look.
Ilva Veidemane, Marketing Manager at Rīgas piena kombināts, says: ““2026 is truly our ‘year of yogurt’, as the fermented dairy products category continues to develop rapidly. At the beginning of the year, we launched the innovative Lakto Protein yogurt range, which is rich in protein and contains no added sugar. At the beginning of summer, we introduced four new Kārums yogurt shakes for those with a sweet tooth. Now, we are further developing our offering in two more segments – children’s snacks and affordable yogurts for everyday consumption. However, this year’s yogurt story does not end here, as new products in other categories are expected in the autumn. These will pleasantly surprise not only Lakto and Kārums fans, but also those who enjoy the Valmiera brand.”
“Rasēns”: improved recipe and an even more playful design
Significant improvements have also been introduced to the range of spoonable yogurts from the popular children’s brand Rasēns, with changes made to the product recipes and toppings, as well as the packaging design. The vanilla and strawberry-banana yogurts are now even tastier thanks to an improved recipe that now also contains natural lactic acid bacteria cultures.
In addition, the Rasēns vanilla yogurt now comes with a new topping – mini marshmallows, placed in a separate compartment. They can be added to the yogurt as an extra element of sweetness and texture or enjoyed separately. Meanwhile, the strawberry-banana yogurt will continue to be available with milk chocolate candies.
Estere Ermale, Dairy Product Brand Manager at Rīgas piena kombināts, adds: “‘Rasēns was created for an active childhood and everyday adventures. After school or playing outside, as well as before sports activities, the improved yogurts are a convenient and tasty snack. The colourful packaging and separately added toppings will make enjoying the yogurt even more exciting.”
All five new and improved Limbažu piens and Rasēns yogurts are gradually reaching store shelves across Latvia.
